KINGS NORTON GIRLS UNDERTAKE A MAMMOTH PERFORMANCE
November 08 2005
Year 11 pupils from Kings Norton Girls School are undertaking a mammoth performance all on their own. To organise, market and fundraise a concert by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
As part of a mentoring project with the Bournville Village Trust Community Section, pupils have just four months to arrange a concert in the school hall. The performance, which will be held on Friday March 3rd, will feature an ensemble from the CBSO.
The event, which will include well known classical music will help to develop the girls leadership skills, team building, assertiveness, confidence building and decision making. A number of VIPs are invited, including the Lord Mayor of Birmingham.
Year 11 pupil, Abi Symonds said: "We have to organise the event from scratch, raise sponsorship, market and advertise the event, liaise with the CBSO on the music for the evening, book the venue, organise the refreshments and carry out front of house duties on the night. It will be a firm test of all our resources, but an exciting one."
The performance will be held on Friday March 3rd 2006 at Kings Norton Girls School. Ticket prices will be £10 for families, £5 for individual adults and £3 for children. A raffle will be held during the interval and refreshments will be available.
Tickets can be purchased in advance from Marie Docker at Bournville Village Trust on 012 415 6481.
