BORDESLEY YOUNGSTERS WIN DRAWING COMPETITION
July 21 2006
Two pupils at St. Andrews J & I School in Bordesley Village, Birmingham, were the lucky winners of a drawing competition, which attracted over two hundred entries.
6 years old Rafid Haque and Anthony Ramsey, aged 8, drew their favourite building in Bordesley, which Rafid said was his house. The competition for 4-11 year olds was held to celebrate the community hall's tenth anniversary. Phoenix Hall has provided a place of support for families moving into Bordesley Village, which was the UK's first new urban village.
The local community regularly use the hall for playgroups, a before and after school club, senior citizens? lunch groups, a Youth Club and Adult Education classes.
Other competition entries included drawings of Phoenix Hall, Birmingham City Football Club, St. Andrews Junior and Infant School and the Garrison Lane Enterprise Centre, which both date from Victorian times.
The community hall is managed by Bournville Village Trust and supported by the Bordesley Village Community Association.
