BOURNVILLE JUNIOR SCHOOL CELEBRATES CENTENARY
August 1 2006
Pupils had a history lesson with a difference during June as year 5 pupils from Bournville Junior School teamed up with residents from the Quadrangle sheltered housing scheme, to look at what it was like to live in Bournville, fifty plus years ago.
Children interviewed residents from the Quadrangle Centre, in Maryvale Road, Bournville, about their school life at Bournville Junior School, which this year celebrates it’s centenary.
Ten year old Tayler (correct spelling) Cooper said "We all sang Old McDonald songs together. We had great fun and it was a really good day."
A workshop which was run by the Shoebox Theatre Company saw current pupils acting out old playground games and rhymes, with strict guidance and instruction from the former pupils.
Children’s artwork was displayed at the Bournville Festival last month and the project was also recorded on DVD which will be available in the early autumn. The project was sponsored by Bournville Village Trust Housing Association.
