A Midlands farmer, who has won awards for his Highland cattle, has diversified into creating a setting within the farm´s 400 acres for the production and sale of traditional pottery and crafts. City teenagers helped to change their community for the better by taking part in a big clean up in their area. The children from Woodlands Youth Club took part in a day of litter picking, organised by their landlord, Bournville Village Trust. BORDESLEY YOUNGSTERS WIN DRAWING COMPETITION

Two pupils at St. Andrews J & I School in Bordesley Village, Birmingham, were the lucky winners of a drawing competition, which attracted over two hundred entries. The commemoration celebrated the tenth anniversary of the opening of a community hall in Bordesley Village. Phoenix Hall was opened by Government Minister, John Gummer on the exact date, June 21st, in 1996, to provide a place of support for families moving into the UK's first new urban village. click here

The great grandson of one of Birmingham's famous founding fathers, who was responsible for overseeing the multi million pound modernisation of a South Birmingham agricultural estate, has recently retired, after a charitable service lasting for over twenty five years. James Taylor, great grandson of chocolate maker and philanthropist, Richard Cadbury. SOUTH BIRMINGHAM RESIDENTS WITH DISABILITIES GET HOOKED ON FISHING THANKS TO BIG LOTTERY MONEY

South Birmingham residents who have disabilities will be able to join a community fishing group, thanks to a grant from the People's Millions (Big Lottery). £50,000 has been donated to the 'Get Hooked on Fishing' project, which will improve the lake area of Rowheath Park and its fishing facilities, making it accessible for people in wheelchairs. Project Manager, Andy Walker said: "Work has already started on clearing the lake and fitting an aeration system. The improvements will help provide better access for people with disabilities, as well as replenishing fish supplies." click here
