Community Issues Top of the Agenda for Shropshire Tenants

Tackling anti social behaviour and building communities were the hot topics for discussion at the 2007 Shropshire Tenants Conference which was held recently. This annual event was attended by over one hundred tenants from eleven Shropshire housing associations. The overall theme for the one day event was 'RESPECT AGENDA' - raising tenant's awareness about the Government's strategy in tackling anti social behaviour, improving the quality of life for residents and promoting positive messages. click here
David Bellamy Opens One of UK's Oldest Refurbished 'Green' Homes

A house built in 1929 has been refurbished by a social housing association to now contain over fifty eco-friendly features. The concentrated mix of environmentally friendly features includes a sedum roof and ground source heat pump. Conservationist David Bellamy officially opened the house in Bournville, Birmingham for public viewing before it is let to tenants mid December. 264 Selly Oak Road is one of the very first homes of its age to receive the Government's Eco Homes Excellent accreditation. click here
Bournville Village Trust Tenants Direct Film

Tenants of a local housing association in South Birmingham have directed and produced a DVD for new tenants to make them feel more at home. Professional actors and film makers from Nelson Training played the characters in the film, which will be given to all new Bournville Village Trust tenants. click here
Pioneering Technique Leads to Safer Communities

A new technique is to be pioneered on the streets of South Birmingham which will provide a safer community. Home Zones, first introduced by the Dutch will be used within the Shenley area which is undergoing a £25 million regeneration. click here
Lottery Funding Provides Games Area for South Birmingham Residents

A major campaign by South Birmingham residents and their housing association to obtain a badly needed games area for youngsters has led to a successful lottery funding grant. Build your own Sustainable Village Community

Visitors to a new tourist attraction which has recently opened at Cadbury World in Birmingham will have the opportunity to create their own computerised village community guided by the one hundred year old values of the Cadbury brothers. Winning Green Logo on Show all over South Birmingham

Year 9 pupils from Kings Norton Girls School have won a competition to design a green logo which will now be on show all over South Birmingham. Winning Green Logo on Show all over South Birmingham Girls at Kings Norton School have been taking part in a competition to design a logo for Bournville Village Trust`s newly converted to gas vehiclesFor their National Curriculum Citizenship Project the thirteen year olds formed seven groups to design a logo for three LPG fuelled trade vans belonging to Bournville Village Trust. click here
School To Open on Working Dairy Farm

Tenants Organise Third Successful Conference

Tenants of a South Birmingham housing association organised a third tenant's conference at the weekend which has become a successful annual event. Helped by landlords, Bournville Village Trust, the 'Tenants Together' Conference was held to involve and consult tenants on services as well as providing an opportunity to provide useful information and future plans. click here

TV Celebrity Opens New Brain Injury Service

ITV Central news presenter, Llewela Bailey today opened a specialist new service in Birmingham for people with acquired brain injury, run by leading national charity the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT). Housing Association Brings Technology to Village Life

Bournville Village Trust has presented awards to young people in recognition of the difference they have made during 2006 in the Bournville community. 11 years old Sian Richards and Jessica Bayley, 13 years old Emma Jones, 15 years old Heather Haddon and 16 years old Marie Watts were amongst the teenagers who have spent their free time helping others. click here
