YOUNG AND OLD CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY

November 15 2004

94 year old Elsie Browning took great delight in being entertained by 17 year old Rebecca Tucker from Shenley Court Secondary school as celebrations got underway for the twenty fifth anniversary of Rosefields, a sheltered housing scheme in Northfield. Groups from all years spent an afternoon performing music, dancing and reciting Shakespeare for the two hours of festive fun in Marylands Drive, Northfield.

Patricia Tierney, the Community Support Manager for Bournville Village Trust, which manages the forty four homes within the sheltered accommodation, was keen to develop links between the tenants and the young people at the school. She said: "It is wonderful to create an opportunity for both young and old from the local community to meet and share experiences. We are delighted that the pupils and staff of Shenley Court School wish to help us celebrate our 25th anniversary."

Peter Butler, Head of Music at Shenley Court Secondary School said: "It is a wonderful opportunity for the children to perform in front of a live and appreciative audience and to be able to form relationships with older people, other than their own relatives."
