A remote community centre in one of the worlds' poorest countries is to benefit from a major talent show which is being organised by young and old in South Birmingham.
The 'Community Showcase' which is being held at the Shenley Green Community Centre in Shenley Green Lane, South Birmingham, on 30th March will raise funds for the building of a community centre in Malawi, Africa. The Appeal is being run by Birmingham Cathedral.
Organised by Bournville Village Trust, Birmingham City Council and Arts 50 Network, the evening event will include community exhibitions, artwork, poetry reading by Birminghams' Poet Laureate, singing from the Harborne Baptist Church Gospel Choir, a dance demonstration and will showcase local peoples talents.
The event will commence at 7pm and will conclude at 10pm and there will also be a free buffet for the evening.
Rebecca Debenham from Bournville Village Trust who is helping to organise the project said: "The event is intergenerational and will highlight both young and old people’s talents. There will be exhibitions of the project work that local people have been involved with, leading up to this one day showcase. It is a day when people will be able to demonstrate their talents and raise monies for an extremely good cause".
