TENANT CONSULTATION ON MANAGING ESTATES PUTS HOUSING ASSOCIATION IN NATIONAL TOP TWENTY FIVE PERCENT LEAGUE

Tenants of a South Birmingham Housing Association are being encouraged to state their views and help make decisions on the running of housing services at the oldest housing association in the Midlands.

Over one hundred tenants and staff worked together at the 2006 Tenant Conference "Participation full ahead", which was organised by Bournville Village Trust. The charitable organisation, which last year, achieved an 86% tenant satisfaction rate, openly discuss with tenants how to improve future communications, build relationships and encourage tenant participation.

The one day event included workshops about combating anti social behaviour, the availability of grants for community initiatives and the support of local resident associations.

Zoey Stanton, Tenant Participation Officer for the Trust said: "Bournville Village Trust provides many opportunities for our tenants to participate in management of our estates and to make decisions in relation to the housing services we supply. This places us in the top twenty five percent of housing associations nationally."
