Equal opportunities
OUR COMMITMENT TO EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES
Bournville Village Trust has a social, moral and legal responsibility to make sure no discrimination occurs in its roles as a housing and services provider and an employer.
The Trust will ensure that anyone who applies for housing, services or employment with the Trust is treated the same, whatever their race, colour, ethnic or national origins, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, age or religion.
How we will do this
The Trust will promote this policy throughout its workplace, including any external agencies we deal with, and amongst our residents.
Everyone who works for the Trust is responsible for ensuring the policy is carried out. It will be monitored by our Equal Opportunities Working Party, which includes Trustees and staff.
The Trust collects information to make sure that no discrimination occurs and any imbalances are corrected.
Meeting Our Customers' Needs
The Trust will work with residents and local specialist agencies to address the housing and other needs of all its customers, and aim to make sure that as many people as possible benefit from their work.
To ensure every applicant is treated fairly, we use a points system to assess housing and social need.
In order to promote a diverse community, we set ourselves targets for housing a range of people from different backgrounds.
Provision of Services
The Trust carries out annual reviews of its services and tenant satisfaction surveys to make sure everyone is treated fairly.
We encourage people who live on our Estates to take part in Tenants and Residents Associations, and to form other groups if they want to. This ensures that all our customers are able to voice their opinions, and to be part of the decision making process at the Trust.
Harassment, Bullying and Anti-Social Behaviour
The Trust does not tolerate harassment, discrimination, bullying or anti-social behaviour against individuals or groups.
The Trust has strict procedures for investigating and dealing with such incidents, and all serious reported cases are investigated within 48 hours and dealt with promptly, sensitively and with dignity and respect for all parties.
