Residents of Bournville will be able to hear a peal of bells for the first time since the 1950s, when on Friday 27th June the once familiar sounds of the Quadrangle bells in Mary Vale Road sound out again. Roger Cadbury, Chairman of Bournville Village Housing Association and Almshouse Trusts is to ring the brand new bells and officially open the new gates of the Almshouses, as the final stage in a ten year plan to return them to their original condition.

News Release: Restoring Birmingham's Long Lost Heritage

Second world war railings are restored in Bournville using traditional blacksmith skills. The Bournville Almshouse Trust is renovating the stonework, iron railings and ornamental gates around the Almshouse Trust in Mary Vale Road which were removed in the 1940s as part of the war effort to recycle iron.
