The 72 hectare (178 acre) Lightmoor Village site is owned by English Partnerships and is the last remaining major area allocated for development within the original Telford masterplan.
Lightmoor Village is a modern urban village development being undertaken by the Joint Venture of Bournville Village Trust (BVT) and English Partnerships (EP), working closely with the local authority, the Telford & Wrekin Council. The Joint Venture is committed to a high standard of development incorporating several innovative features.
After many years of careful planning and detailed design, work started on site in 2005 with construction of the first housing phase at Round House Park (formerly known as The Laurels). This was an historic moment for Lightmoor Village the start of what will be, in effect, the second version of Birmingham’s famous Bournville Estate.
The village will consist of around 800 homes, a family pub/restaurant, a proposed one-form single entry school with community facilities, small and medium-sized retail facilities and no less than 22 hectares of open space and landscaped areas available for publicly accessible sports, play, recreational and leisure uses, with an office to be occupied by Bournville Village Trust.
Bournville Village Trust will acquire and manage a quarter of all of the new homes in the Village. Bournville Village Trust is committed to managing these tenanted properties to the same high standard as the existing BVT housing stock throughout Telford, and indeed that at Bournville in Birmingham. The Trust is dedicated to promoting new, good quality affordable housing which enhances the environment and to managing its housing stock and its estates to the highest standards for the benefit of all residents.
