Commenting on his new role, Steve told Kath Hughes,(Resident Involvement Officer for the Bournville Trust at Lightmoor Village and Ironstone Lawley) "to begin with, the key part of my role is to get to know people moving into the area and to help to foster a sense of community. I look forward to working with the Bournville Village Trust and other partners as the new communities in Lawley and Lightmoor begin to develop and grow."

Steve spent many years in the car industry here in the Midlands and worked for a number of companies including Land Rover and Jaguar Cars. Steve is now a Church of England minister with a brief to work in the community. Speaking about his hopes for the future, he told Kath, "the other part of my role is to nurture and encourage faith. All over the UK, new forms and patterns of church are emerging to meet the needs of local people. We will be taking time to listen and to discover what is right for those who are new to this area."

Grant Crowe, the vicar of St. John’s Church in Lawley said, "it’s great to have Steve in the Telford team and I am looking forward to working together."
