If you are buying, or have bought a home, on the Bournville estate it is important that you know if it lies within the boundaries of the Bournville Conservation Area.
You can see if your home lies within our Conservation Area using the map below.
If the local planning authority believe an area has special character which should be preserved or enhanced, it can designate it a Conservation Area.
This enables the Council to influence the kind of changes that happen there and the law is set down in the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990.
Living in a Conservation Area does not mean that you cannot make alterations to your home.
It does mean that changes should preserve or enhance the character of the building and the area as a whole.
For further details about living in the Bournville Conservation Area, please read the Bournville Village Conservation Area Design Guide
All alterations also need to comply with our Bournville Estate Design Guide.
