It is often surprising what gems can be found on our doorsteps. BBC 4’s Canal Walks, presented and narrated by Country File’s Julia Bradbury, offers a fascinating insight on the Worcester to Birmingham Canal, making special reference to Cadburys and Bournville.
The programme takes a journey along the towpath, stopping at the Bournville factory site. Julia paints a picture of how important the canal network was to the establishment of Bournville Village, the first planned village in the world. “You can even smell the chocolate in the air”, says Julia.
