Benefit Cap Calculator – check if you’re affected now

Bournville Village Trust (BVT) is encouraging residents who think they may be affected by the cap to benefits to use an easy-to-follow Benefit Cap Calculator.

The calculator, which you can use here: www.gov.uk/benefit-cap-calculatorprovides an estimate of how much your benefit may be capped if you’re affected.

To use it, you’ll need to know the amounts of each benefit you get and the number of people in your household.

Stephanie Weaver, Welfare Reform Officer at BVT, said: “The Government has placed a limit on the amount of benefit that some households (people aged 16-64) can get.

“Your household includes you, your partner and any children that you’re responsible for and who live with you.

“The benefit cap may mean that the amount you get for certain benefits, including Housing Benefit, will go down to make sure that the total amount you get isn’t more than the cap level.”

If you are affected and are struggling financially, please contact our Customer Services team on 0300 333 6540 (Birmingham) or 01952 293 777 (Shropshire) for advice and assistance.
