Local councillors, Nigel Dawkins, Tim Huxtable and Rob Sealey, have been working with Bournville Village Trust and AMEY, the City Council’s lighting contractor, to install 9 ‘heritage’ lamps, to illuminate Bournville Green, the heart of one of Birmingham’s most important conservation areas.
The ‘heritage’ lamps are brand new and the 6-sided ‘Knightsbridge’ design, was chosen by Bournville residents in a poll conducted by the local councillors.
The ornate lamp columns, upon which the lamps sit, are columns, which were removed from Bournville roads earlier this year as part of the street lighting programme and some had been in use for over 50 years. They have been refurbished and will now stand proudly on the Bournville Green.
The lighting ‘switch-on’ will take place on Saturday, 24th March at 7.00pm and we hope to see you there for what should be a great Bournville event.
