A Bournville great-grandmother-of-six who has worked, lived and raised her family in the village over the last 95 years has celebrated her centenary.
Beatrice Morris marked her 100th birthday yesterday (28th November 2016), celebrating a few days earlier in style with a special party surrounded by family and friends.
The former Cadbury’s factory worker moved to Bournville with her family when she was five years old from neighbouring Selly Oak.
She then lived on Mulberry Road and Woodlands Park Road before meeting her husband Arthur, who also worked at Cadbury. They married at St Francis Church in 1940.
The couple went on to have two children and four grandchildren and have had three Bournville Festival Queens in the family.
When asked her secret to reaching 100-years-old, Beatrice said: “I’ve always liked gardening and keeping active. I’ve also always enjoyed a drink, just the one, once a week – normally a whisky and dry with my family.”
She added: “I love living in Bournville and enjoy everything about it.”
