Tessa Mitchell, BVTs Head of Community Services in Birmingham attended the DECTC Awards Evening on the 26th May when BVT were awarded the school’s Business Partner Award for 2011. The award was presented by Steven McCabe, the MP for Selly Oak.
Tessa stated “DEC is a lovely, friendly school and we are delighted to win this award. We have developed good links with staff and pupils over the past few years and are pleased to be involved with the school, which is in the heart of our community.”
Last year BVTs Community Team were involved with pupils in their Social Enterprise week and that will continue this year alongside increased community engagement activities. The awards evening marked the many achievements of pupils at the school in a wide range of activities and academic excellence. The audience and guests were also treated to a splendid drumming ensemble and an excellent rendition of Elton John’s ‘Your Song’ by pupils.
