Volunteers who give their time and commitment to support the work of Bournville Village Trust and their communities in Birmingham and Telford have been celebrated.

To mark national Volunteers’ Week, and as part of our 125th anniversary celebrations, we invited 40 volunteers to join us at our museum Selly Manor in Bournville for a special event to recognise their selfless contributions to their communities.

Volunteers included people like Gill Salisbury, who helps at Selly Manor Museum every week, Bill Rice, who is a longstanding member of Bournville Village Council, and Gloria Gain, who is at the heart of the community at Shenley Court Hall.

The event included a delicious lunch, with complimentary cakes provided by nearby Kafenion, a tour of the museum and Bournville, and a craft activity.

Daniel Callicott, Heritage Manager at Bournville Village Trust, said: “Without volunteers, our museum would struggle to host the excellent range of events and activities that we offer to the community. They play an essential and selfless role, and we are incredibly grateful for their support.

“There are also residents who sit on Bournville Village Trust’s resident-led committees and scrutiny groups, giving their time for free to make the services that Bournville Village Trust provide better.

“And then of course, there are also amazing volunteer-led groups that we work with and so many people in our communities who give up their time to support others. On behalf of Selly Manor Museum, and Bournville Village Trust, we would like to say a huge thank you to all our volunteers.”
