A meals service set up by a Telford couple at the height of Covid to provide healthy dinners direct to people’s homes has opened its first café in Lightmoor Village.
Bare Café has opened within Bournville House, an extra care housing scheme managed by community organisation and charity Bournville Village Trust.
The café is part of Bare Nutrition, a Stirchley-based company run by husband and wife team Jack and Taylor Edge.
It will provide meals to residents of Bournville House, starting with breakfast/brunch and afternoon snacks, as well as food to local people.
Jack Edge, founder of Bare Nutrition, said: “I set up Bare Nutrition at the height of the pandemic as I was aware of how many people were unable to prepare delicious healthy meals at home so we created a menu and delivered quality meals at affordable prices.
“After being approached by Bournville Village Trust and visiting Bournville House, I was excited about opening Bare Café. In addition, residents will also have the chance to order pre-prepared meals if they don’t want to cook themselves.”
Donna Lister-Trowell, Bournville House Manager, said: “Our residents are delighted to have the café service as it is a focal point for them to meet and socialise as well as enjoy delicious food.
“It’s also an opportunity for the residents of the wider Village to come into Bournville House again, which we all missed during the pandemic.”
The café is currently open Mondays to Saturdays from 10am-12.30pm serving breakfast and brunch. Shortly it will be extending the hours to serve lunch.
