Bikes donated by members of the community and BVT staff will go to help refugees and asylum seekers following a fantastic response to a new partnership.
In less than a month we received 10 bikes, which is enough for our first collection to The Bike Project who we partnered with in January.
The Bike Project give the bikes to refugees and asylum seekers who struggle to afford other forms of transport.
Having a bike can help an asylum-seeker get to crucial appointments and save them nearly £20 a week (cost of a bus pass) of their £37.75 weekly income.
Our office at 350 Bournville Lane, B30 1QY is now a drop-off point for the charity.
In a tweet thanking us for the donations, The Bike Project said: ‘Thank you Bournville Village Trust and the wonderful people of Birmingham for this amazing show of support.’
Please note that from Friday 20th March we will not be accepting bike donations for this project until further notice. This is due to some changes to our services as a result of the coronavirus.
