New Bournville Estate Design Guide out now – including advice on wheelie bins

An updated version of the design guide for the Bournville Estate – including information on wheelie bins – is available now.

The guide includes new designs, sections, and information on the storage of wheelie bins, which were introduced in the village by Birmingham City Council in October.

Richard Hughes, Estates Manager at BVT, said: “Residents are requested to keep wheelie bins out of sight as much as possible, which would usually mean at the back of the house, in a side passage or garage.

“There are some situations where there isn’t an alternative but to store them at the front of the property. Once again the bins should be out of view though as much as possible.

“Residents wishing to build storage facilities for bins will need to submit an alteration application in the usual way.”

Designed to help protect the unique character of Bournville buildings, the design guide includes information on everything from building extensions to fitting CCTV cameras.

Any resident wishing to make alterations to their home, which will affect the external appearance, should seek advice and permission from BVT before starting any work.
