Bournville drivers will be able to continue to get their cars serviced on their doorstep after a lease was agreed to take on a former garage.
The Bournville MOT and Service Centre has opened in a unit that was formerly occupied by Wards Garage on Oak Tree Lane for 15 years.
The unit is leased by Bournville Village Trust, which manages more than 100 commercial properties across central and south Birmingham and Telford.
New owners Darren Rollason and Mohammed Nasir have 20 years combined experience in the car trade and are excited to be part of the Bournville community.
Darren, said: “It’s been our dream to open our own MOT and Service Centre, so when this unit became available it felt like fate. We’re keen to be part of the Bournville community and are here to offer a reliable service with the most up-to-date equipment and diagnostic tools.”
Services offered by the Bournville MOT and Service Centre include services and repairs, MOTs and diagnostics. The business is also hoping to be able to offer hybrid repairs in the future.
Victoria Burnett-Rogers, Commercial Property Manager at Bournville Village Trust, said: “We own and manage a number of commercial units and premises, and it’s important to us that the services provided from them benefit and serve the local community.
“We are pleased to welcome the Bournville MOT and Service Centre as one of our newest commercial tenants and to be able to maintain a service that has been provided from this unit for over 15 years.”
As a not-for-profit charitable trust, Bournville Village Trust invests surplus from commercial activities, like managing shops and commercial units, back into the neighbourhoods it manages in central and south Birmingham and Telford.
