One of the most historic housing associations in the UK has appointed a new director to oversee its development programme, including the build of a £60 million care village.
Paul Hanley has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, most recently as Business Development Manager at Kier.
Starting his career in the housing sector, Paul has worked in development, maintenance and asset management roles for housing associations including Mercian, Touchstone, Orbit and Jephson
He will now manage Bournville Village Trust’s development programme, which includes the construction of its flagship care village in Bournville, Birmingham, and 1,000 new homes in Telford, Shropshire.
Once complete, the multi-million-pound care village will be home to almost 400 people and will feature a health and well-being centre.
The village, which aims to seamlessly integrate housing, health and social care services, is also expected to create around 200 jobs, helping to boost employment and the local economy.
Paul will also lead BVT’s repairs and maintenance function, including its planned maintenance programmes.
Paul Hanley, Technical Services Director at Bournville Village Trust, said: “It is great to be working for an organisation that is passionate about the services that it provides for its customers and the communities within which it works.
“This role offers me the opportunity to maximise my skills, knowledge and experience to their fullest potential to enable Bournville Village Trust to continue to create homes and communities where people want to live.”
Peter Roach, Chief Executive of Bournville Village Trust, said: “Once complete Bournville care village will herald a new era for Bournville, providing hundreds of new homes.
“Paul will play a vital role in overseeing its development along with ensuring that our new village of 1,000 homes at Lightmoor in Telford continues to move forward.”
Bournville Village Trust (BVT) is a charity and housing organisation founded by chocolate maker and philanthropist George Cadbury in 1900.
