Bournville Village Trust (BVT) is encouraging residents who need help understanding Universal Credit to watch a new information film.
This short film, which you can view by clicking here, covers everything from setting up an account and claiming Universal Credit to completing ‘to dos’ and using ‘your journal’.
Universal Credit is a new benefit for people on low incomes or those who are out of work which is being introduced in stages across the country.
In Birmingham, only new single claimants of income based Job seekers Allowance have been able to apply for Universal Credit since April last year.
Universal Credit will eventually replace six benefits and tax credits including Housing Benefit, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance and Child Tax Credit, with a single monthly payment.
If you’re a BVT resident and are experiencing financial hardship, or need advice or support relating to benefits, please contact us on 0300 333 6540 for Birmingham and 01952 293 777 for Shropshire.
