Please be aware the Environment Agency (EA) has a new online platform for the Bourn Flood Risk Management Scheme.  The previous online Bourn FRMS Citizen Space page will close at the end of April 2025. You can visit the new platform and subscribe to be kept updated at https://engageenvironmentagency.uk.engagementhq.com/the-bourn-frms

On 6th September 2024, we met with the Environment Agency to receive an update on their engagement plans in response to the previously paused exploratory work at Weoley Park, Manor Park and Valley Parkway in Birmingham.

Following a review and our legal challenge, the Environment Agency plans for the exploratory works, planned in May 2024, were paused.

The EA have developed a new plan for consultation and engagement with residents and local organisations/groups, which was launched at a FRMS Focus Group meeting on 4th October 2024.

An Invitation to the meeting was sent to key stakeholders including BVT Estates Committee, reps from Weoley Hill and Bournville Village Councils, and a rep from Bournville Freeholders and Leaseholders Association (BFLA).

Bournville Village Trust (BVT) remains against any works taking place on the parks without prior consideration and consultation/engagement with both us and residents. To date, we still have not approved any ground works.

We will continue to work with resident reps from our Estates Committee, reps from Weoley Hill and Bournville Village Councils, and a rep from Bournville Freeholders and Leaseholders Association (BFLA) and our local MPs on the Environment Agency’s (EA) response to flood risk management proposals and concepts, which still remain in the early stages of consultation.

We also continue to work with the Environment Agency to ensure all residents’ voices are heard through consultation and we will ensure resident reps, both Village Councils and the BFLA are engaged in this as it progresses.
