About the Neighbourhood Planning Project

From 2022, we are starting a brand new project called the Neighbourhood Planning Project. The aim of the project is to get a better understanding of the different communities that we work in so we can develop an action plan for each area focused on meeting the needs of the people who live there.

What is the Neighbourhood Planning Project?

The project’s aim is to gather information so we can form a true picture of each neighbourhood that we work in that clearly shows what life is like for people living there.

We will use this information to draw up a dynamic action plan for each area which will involve BVT and key partners. Each plan will listen to the lives of residents and start to address their needs and aspirations.

Why are we doing this?

We want to work with our communities to make them as sustainable as possible and allow people to thrive, and we want to partner and work with agencies and businesses that share our values and reflect and provide the services really needed in communities. By carrying out this work we will get a better understanding of what is happening in each area, who lives there, and what services and support they might need.

How are we doing this?

We have initially carried out secondary research based on a variety of available data. This has helped to build up a picture of some of the issues facing each community. We will also be talking to key stakeholders and service providers about this data, so we can dig deeper, listen to their experiences with local people and discuss what some of this data might mean for people living and working in that community.

And, most importantly, we want to engage with local residents living in each neighbourhood. We will be using a number of different methods to capture residents’ ideas and experiences including online surveys and through some focussed face-to-face meetings in the different areas

We will be sharing more information and our findings on this website and the completed action plans as they become available.
