Dampness can be caused by lifestyle factors and there are lots of simple things you can do to reduce the overall level of moisture in your home.

Steps include:

  • Don’t leave kettles boiling and cover pans with lids, for example, when cooking
  • Dry washing outside where possible. If you can’t, dry it in a heated and well-ventilated room with the door shut and a window open.
  • Use an extractor fan if you have one
  • If you have a tumble-dryer that doesn’t collect water, make sure it is ducted to the outside.

Before reporting incidents of damp, please read our Condensation Leaflet by clicking on the link to the right of this page.
