Each year we carry out a safety check on the gas appliances in your rented home which we are legally required to do.

We employ Gas Safe Register engineers to do these checks, which help to make sure appliances are completely safe.

The checks also make sure appliances are working as they should, which can help you to manage your gas bills.

We will contact you eight weeks before your service is due to arrange an appointment to carry out a gas service.

If the appointment isn’t convenient, please contact us to change it.

As a tenant, it is your responsibility to:

  • Allow us into your home to carry out a gas safety check. If you do not give us access, we can and will obtain a court injunction to allow us entry.
  • Keep appointment times and tell us of any change in your circumstances as early as possible
  • Try to be flexible when re-arranging appointments
  • Be courteous to BVT staff and representatives
  • Tell us if you are unhappy with the service you have received so that we can put it right by completing our Repair Satisfaction Survey.

Once the service has been carried out, we will give you a copy of your gas safety certificate.
